As dine in of max two pax is now allowed, so I jio my friend jovy to go boon tong kee to have our dinner @ 5.30pm on Sunday (today). We went to the branch at whampoa west near boon keng mrt. No reservation is allowed as it is on a first come first serve basis. Both jovy and I love to eat pig livers so we ordered claypot pig livers (S$14.00). We also ordered a plate of hainanese chicken (S$11.00) to go with our rice. Another dish we ordered is fish maw with angle gourd (S$16.00). The pig livers are tender and flavourful with the sauce. I also like the fish maws, soft and fresh, yums! The sauce also nice. As for the hainanese chicken, we asked for thigh and drumstick meat. The soya sauce that comes with the chicken is so appetizing. The chili sauce also sedap. A very satisfying meal, I even had 2 bowls of rice. After dinner we went Nex at Serangoon mrt station to shop and have a drink. Here I bought something from H & M (will share about the loots in another post). After that we went
Went for my blood test on Thursday. It had been 6 years since I last had my health check up in 2015 here . My health screening package costs S$40.50 after government subsidy and includes screening for diabetes, high cholesterol, anaemia, kidney function, liver function, calcium and uric acid and any urine abnormalities. Good news and peace of mind that my health checkup results are good, no high cholesterol, no diabetes, kidney and liver function are good. However, I have mild anaemia. My total cholesterol level is 4.5 (desirable level is less than 5.2) My blood glucose level is 4.9. Desirable level is between 3.9 and 6.0. So now, I can go celebrate and eat more desserts, lolol
Evening sky shots taken today @ 7.24pm. The sky presents a lovely pink. Comparing Khong Guan brand and MY San brand butter cookies, personally I prefer Khong Guan as I feel they are more buttery and richer. Do you have Khong Guan brand in your supermarket?
TM commented before, to goreng must buy Indomie, so I went to the supermarket to buy original Indomie Mee goreng to try. Inside got the seasoning oil, seasoning powder, chili powder and sweet soy sauce. My instant noodles very simple one, as simple as a plain Jane without any ingredients, but still tastes nice! Today went to dabao the brown sauce chicken chop again because I like it. This time I smart leh, request to replace the fries with bun, so I got two buns! Yum yum!
I posted on single task vs multi-task once here . This is a continuation. Just sharing. Concentrating on a single task, is perhaps one of the greatest obstcales we face today, with so much technology and so many distractions. We're listening to a video on Youtube while writing an email when suddenly a chat prompt pops up and we answer it. Just as soon as we respond to that message, we're back at our computer, logging on to Facebook. Pretty soon thirty minutes have passed and we've forgotten what the email we were writing was supposed to be about. This also happens sometimes when put on a movie with dinner and don't realize how delicious the salmon was until we're taking the last bite. We often think that combining tasks will save us time but scientic evidence shows that it has the opposite effect. Even those who claim to be good at multitasking are not very productive. In fact, they are some of the least productive people. Our brains can take in millions of bits of
Announced yesterday that dine in will be allowed come 21 June, one day after Father's day. Understand that our neighbour's FMCO will be extended to 28 June. Today dabao western food for my dinner from a western food stall at my neighborhood coffeeshop. I wanted to dabao crispy fish rice but as rice is sold out, so I change to brown sauce chicken chop @ S$7.50 instead. It comes with coleslaw, fries and a bun. The chicken chop with skin is so tender and juicy. The brown sauce is very tasty and flavourful too. Nice! I like it that the set comes with a bun. I love to eat buns as it gives me a filling feeling. I hate feeling hungry and half full. The coleslaw is nice too and I like the sauce of the coleslaw. Only the fries are a bit disappointing as some are hard and tough and not soft so I did not finish all the fries. My happier, worry free and younger days. Why I say that, cos last time only 4 words exist in my dictionary - work, party, eat and sleep. Is it a good thing? Good thi
Finally finished reading this book, took me 2 weeks. I am sure you know what is Buddhism. But have you heard of Stoicism? Actually I ever thought about the concept of Stoicism before I even know about Stoicism as I ever told my friend, maybe I can try to keep a distance from my mom for about a month and learn how to live without her company so in case she passes on (touch wood touch wood) I will get used to it. The stoics practised something like negative visualization. They imagined the worst thing that could happen in order to be prepared if certain privileges and pleasures were taken from them. Seneca, one of the richest men in ancient Rome, lived a life of luxury but was nonetheless, an active Stoic. He recommended practicing negative visualization every night before falling asleep. In fact, he not only imagined these negative situations, he actually put them into practice, for example, by living for a week without servants, or the food and drink he was used to as a wealthy man. As
It's back to something light and not so heavy weight today. Food! And shopping! Saw Mun posted about blackcurrant cream cheese pie here so went to my neighborhood Mac and found out that our Mac also has cream cheese pie but it is blueberry. They also have a new sauce for their nuggets, honey sauce in addition to sweet and sour sauce, barbecue sauce and curry sauce. Looks interesting, maybe will try when I have craving for fast food. As now cannot go tours, so sometimes I will turn to retail therapy to release my stress lolol. Bought a ceramic cup on Monday at Bugis, costs S$8.00. Can use as a bowl too cos it is quite big. Love the yellow colour and flowery pattern.
Just sharing an article: 3 Signs a Person with Toxic Qualities Is Manipulating You (and What to Do About It) Chances are high you’ve encountered a person in your life who demonstrates toxic qualities. There’s an equally significant possibility you still remember how they made you feel. You may have then realized this “friend” or family member was no good (kudos to you — it’s not easy and not everyone has the strength to do so). But it can often be hard to distinguish between feelings of love and friendship and feelings of guilt and manipulation. Manipulative people are really good at purposefully confusing others. We reached out to Nancy Irwin, PsyD, of Seasons Rehab Center in Malibu, California, as well as author , therapist, and general badass survivor Shannon Thomas , LCSW, to help us spot the people in our lives who may do more harm than good and learn how we can separate ourselves from them. So, what exactly makes a person toxic? In order to detoxify our lives, we first ne
My mind is very active, sometimes even during sleeping time, I still cannot remove my thinking cap and thoughts. I will keep thinking and planning and sometimes I will repeat the same thoughts over and over again. I think it could be because of stress, I should try to relax my mind before I sleep so that I could prepare for my sleep. In an attempt to solve this problem, I turn to the internet for solutions. The following article is from the internet. Some tips sound logical and feasible. Such as meditate, go for a walk, swim, talk it out and set a "thinking time". Whatever thoughts, think about them during your "thinking time", after that, during sleeping time, do not think about them anymore and relax. Do you have any such problems? Article as follows: Accept that you're thinking too much. Just like eating, thinking is something we need to do to survive, so it is sometimes hard to judge when you are doing too much of it. However, there are several red flags th
