DVD - League of Gods (2016)

After watching the show and comparing it with Monkey King 2, I would say League of Gods has a better plot and storyline. As usual, there are many Computer Graphics in the film (maybe I am someone who doesn't care about the Computer Graphics as long as the story makes sense) but I find the movie ends too abruptly, maybe there will be a second installment to this, let us wait and see.

If Monkey King 2 has a rating of 4/10, I would give League of Gods a rating of 6/10.

Have you watched this movie before?

This is the plot (Source: Internet)

The film takes place in the Shang Dynasty, 1000 BC, in an alternate reality. King Zhou (Tony Leung Ka Fai) who, bewitched by his concubine Daji (Fan Bingbing), a vixen spirit in disguise, oppresses the people and brutally stamps out all opposition. A band of brave warriors from the Ji clan rallies allies in a bid to overthrow the tyrannical ruler.

Amongst them is Ji Lei (Jacky Heung), an orphan of the Wing Tribe who was rescued as a child by the powerful sorcerer, Master Jiang (Jet Li), on the fateful day his parents were massacred by King Zhou. Unfortunately, he loses his wings in the process - and much of the movie touches on his attempts to grow his wings back.

Jiang sends him on a mission to seek out the Sword of Light that will help the rebels overthrow the evil King Zhou and Daji. Ji Lei makes allies in Ne Zha (Wen Zhang), and later Yang Jiang (Huang Xiaoming), and they set off to defeat their enemies.

I hardly watch Chinese movies and I have to rely on the sub-titles.

Mun: I only watch movies this type if I happen to buy the DVD, won't want to pay for cinema tickets for such movies, DVD are not expensive so it is okay, just watch because there are too much publicity about the movies so a bit curious

Oic. Thanks for explaining. Nothing wrong with this type of movies of course if my previous comment gave the wrong impression.

Hi Libby,
Oh yes many big casts in this movie ... Jet Li is the old man ? It's been a long time since I've last watched Chinese movie. Last movie was Train to Busan... trying to catch the subtitles vs action ... ha ha!
