I have Osteoarthritis

As I experienced unexplained bone and joint pain quite frequently recently, I went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for a check up. The doctor says that I have Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. To know more about Osteoarthritis, click here.

For Osteoarthritis, symptoms typically start after 40 years of age, and progress slowly.

Most commonly, it develops in people aged over 40. Some people say that osteoarthritis is an inevitable part of ageing. This is untrue. There are people well into their nineties who have no clinical or functional signs of the disease.

The doctor gave me Glucosamine supplements to strengthen my cartilage.

Glucosamine is a natural chemical compound in your body. But it also comes in the form of a supplement.

The glucosamine helps keep up the health of your cartilage -- the rubbery tissue that cushions bones at your joints.

I am quite devastated that I have this disease at this age, I still have a long way to go, I hope after taking the medication my condition will improve.

At one time I too had bone and joint pain. I started taking glucosamine and I diligently go for my walking exercise and both have helped. I hope your condition will improve soon. Take care.

Oh. I feel you! Hope glucosamine helps you. Cut down on your milk consumption. I heard it causes osteoarthritis.

This is not new to me but I am not an expert to advise and would like to learn more as it could happen to me or anyone else. I remembered a friend who told me when his late mother had this, which developed into so much severe complications later that hurt all her joints very badly until she always cried in her sleep. Being a Buddhist believer in Karma, perhaps there are some special sutras to chant for better health. Good Luck to you.

TM: Hi TM, thanks for the input, do you know which are the sutras to chant for better health, I have been chanting the 佛說阿彌陀經, does it help?
