初九拜天公

初九拜天公is a traditional celebration and is normally carry out by Hokkien people. There will normally be red eggs, mee sua, Longevity Peach Buns (寿桃), Huat Kueh (Chinese steamed cake), Hong Gui Guo (red turtle steamed rice cake with sweet mung bean) and Nian Gao, which symbolise good luck, prosperity and longevity.

That's on the 8th Day, right? Lots of firecrackers and fireworks here last night. A rather grand affair, it seems.

so you had a big celebration last night?? many neighbour here were praying and also burning firecrackers, oh, I could not have a good sleep until they were all done!!

I am Hokkien but somehow my family don't observe this ritual.

I quite like this day because is a day that I can hear lots of fireworks compared to eve CNY, at least at my area. I guess more Hokkien at my place here.

This is the first time I see prayers being held at the corridor. I have a friend living in a condo and saw him posting on Facebook pictures of him praying at the balcony. My parents in law live in a shop house and they pray in front of it so I never thought much about those living in high-rise buildings until I see your pic and also my friends. My favourite food during this prayer is the red turtle. That is the one and only thing I like to eat there :D
